2019 Instrumental Music Program

Each year the Instrumental Music Teachers undertake a recruitment program for new students to learn instruments.  

Recruiting involves several steps including completion of an Expression of Interest Form which will be distributed to interested students at the Recruitment Programs detailed below: 

Wed 14 Nov

Strings Recruitment (Years 3 – 6 students) 

Fri 16 Nov

Concert Band Recruitment.

Years 4 - 6 students may receive tuition on a Brass, Percussion, Woodwind or Strings instrument

  

In return for the fee, this Scheme provides: 

Brass, Woodwind, Strings: 

·                  supply of Essential Elements Book and hire of all Music Sheets - $40 

·                  hire of Musical Instrument -  $80 (if applicable)

Percussion only: 

In return for the fee, this Scheme provides: 

·                 supply of Essential Elements Book and hire of all Music Sheets - $40 

·                 hire of Percussion Instrument  - $20

A limited number of instruments are available for loan from the school.  Once all school loan instruments are hired out, students are then required to purchase their own (this may not be applicable to large/expensive instruments).

 List of Instruments that students can receive tuition on at PSS include: 

·         Flute 

·         Clarinet 

·         Alto Saxophone  

·         Tenor Saxophone  

·         Trumpet  

·         Trombone   

·         Euphonium/Baritone     

·         Electric Bass  

·         Percussion 

·         Strings – Violin 

·         Strings – Viola 

·         Strings – Cello 

·         Double Bass 

Student to the Instrumental Music Program Commitment:

1.     Practice regularly.  (Minimum – 30 minutes daily) 

2.     Attend all lessons, rehearsals and activities as required 

3.     Take part in all performances, camps and concerts as required 

4.     Become a member of the school ensembles and other groups as designated by the instrumental music teacher 

5.     Once a student commences an instrument he/she must remain in the Instrumental Music Program for a minimum of 12 months
