Back to Front Maths FOR PARENTS
Another of our (GRG) strategies has been to introduce a highly successful approach to teaching maths. This strategy is pretty different to how we all learned maths at school. It uses problem-based teaching, which is a fancy way of saying “if you work it out yourself, then you will understand it forever”.
While our teachers will begin a professional development day on Monday 20 October and continue learning during the week, we are also offering a fantastic opportunity for parents to understand this approach and be able to support their children if required.
A Back to Front Maths session for PARENTS will be held on Tuesday 21 October from 3.30-5.30 pm in the Ergon Room at the Function Centre. Free Child-minding is also available at Bottle Tree Hall (provided by some of our teacher aides). Don’t be put off if you don’t have strong maths skills. Presented by enthusiastic presenter Tierney Kennedy, this is an opportunity to learn what the teachers are learning!
